BUKIT MERTAJAM: The life of 21-year-old Lee Zi Rou ended tragically when a container fell from a lorry and crushed her car. The incident occurred on Jalan Bukit Tengah on Wednesday (Nov 13), leaving her family in anguish.

A Mother’s Call for Action

Lee’s grieving mother, Lim Sheau Ling, 42, is demanding accountability from the truck driver and the company involved. “I’ve lost my daughter, but I cannot let this go. Justice must be served,” Lim said.

Help from the Government

Human Resources Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong visited the family, expressing condolences and ensuring them that assistance would be provided through Socso.

Her Final Words

Lee, remembered for her kindness and hardworking spirit, made a final call to her mother, crying, “Mummy, it hurts so much, please help me.” Lim rushed to the scene but arrived too late.

Socso Benefits Announced

Minister Sim shared that Lee, who worked as a clerk, had been contributing to Socso since October 2022. Her family is entitled to RM3,000 in funeral benefits and RM913.50 in monthly payments.

Lee will be cremated at the Berapit Crematorium on Sunday (Nov 17). Her death has profoundly impacted her family, who are struggling to cope with their loss.
