Official Statement on the Cause of Death

Selangor police chief Commissioner Datuk Hussein Omar Khan revealed that the victim’s death resulted from multiple organ failure brought on by severe heat stroke. The case has been categorized as sudden death, with preliminary findings ruling out external harm.

Timeline and Circumstances of the Incident

The cadet fell unconscious on Nov 10 during a marching session and was rushed to Shah Alam Hospital. Investigators discovered that the student had joined Palapes in late October and was completing a fitness assessment in preparation for the basic training scheduled for the following year.

Medical Attempts to Save the Cadet

Following his collapse, the student was taken to the hospital’s emergency ward, where he was reported semi-conscious and running a high fever. Efforts to rehydrate and treat the victim’s muscle cramps were ultimately unsuccessful. His condition deteriorated, and he passed away on Nov 13 after being admitted to the ICU.

Police and Public Appeals for Information

Selangor police have questioned nine witnesses and are urging anyone with further information to contact Assistant Superintendent Mohd Khairi Kamaruddin at 012-266 6025.

Concerns Over Bullying Raised

In response to allegations made by the cadet’s father, the Armed Forces has launched an investigation into possible misconduct or bullying during the training program.
