Akim to Compete in Men’s 100m Heats at Paris Olympics, Making Olympic Debut

Malaysian sprinter Akim will make his Olympic debut in the men’s 100 meters heats at the Paris Olympics. The 20-year-old will race at the iconic Stade de France, taking on the most significant challenge of his career.

Akim, the national record holder in the men’s 100 meters with a time of 10.09 seconds, won the bronze medal in the 100 meters at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games. In April, he recorded his season-best time of 10.24 seconds in the United States.

Arriving in Paris last Monday on a wildcard, Akim has adapted well to the local weather conditions. He plans to keep a low profile before the competition, focusing on his standard training routine and aiming for survival and progression.

Akim is the first Malaysian sprinter to compete in the Olympic 100 meters in 24 years, following Hua Sheng’s participation in the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
