The footage, showing a man repeatedly hitting a dog with a stick, quickly went viral, prompting widespread condemnation from the public. A 33-year-old Malaysian citizen, disturbed by the video, filed a police report, leading to the suspect’s arrest.

Police Investigation and Legal Action

Kulai OCPD Asst Comm Tan Seng Lee stated that the suspect, a 45-year-old factory worker, was apprehended following the report. Authorities have charged him under Section 428 of the Penal Code and Section 29(1)(a) of the Animal Welfare Act 2015. The suspect is scheduled to appear before the Kulai Magistrate’s Court on February 28 for further legal proceedings. If convicted, he could face serious penalties, including fines and imprisonment.
