Increase in Evacuations in Kelantan
KUALA LUMPUR: The flood situation in Kelantan has escalated, with a significant rise in evacuations. As of 12:40 pm on Wednesday, 5,493 people from 1,682 families have been moved to 76 relief centers across nine districts. This marks a major increase from the previous night’s evacuation of just 250 individuals.
Rivers Surpass Danger Levels
Six rivers in Kelantan, including Sungai Golok and Sungai Melor, have exceeded their danger points, contributing to widespread flooding. Flash floods from heavy rainfall in Kota Baru have caused nearby rivers to overflow, making road travel difficult.
Flooding Continues in Terengganu
In Terengganu, 1,220 evacuees from 384 families have sought shelter in 42 relief centers. Several rivers are at critical levels, with ongoing monitoring in Besut, Setiu, and other districts.
Johor’s Situation Unchanged
Meanwhile, Johor has remained relatively unaffected by the recent floods. Only 28 people from eight families are currently in a relief center in Segamat.
