A New Transit Opportunity for Klang Valley

PETALING JAYA: The LRT3 line, set for completion in September 2025, is expected to transform public transportation in the western Klang Valley, with a daily capacity of 200,000 riders.

Route Capacity and Planned Expansion

This Shah Alam Line covers a 37km stretch from Kampung Johan Setia in Klang to Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, with initial capacities of 6,210 passengers per hour, increasing to 7,341 pphpd by 2028 with five added stations.

Government’s Investment in Public Transport

The government’s commitment is evident with allocated funds for seven new train sets, 150 electric buses, and two depots, enhancing regional transit.

Prasarana’s Updated Cost Projection

CEO Mohd Azharuddin clarified that station reinstatement costs will be RM4.2 billion, lower than initially projected, optimizing both stations and infrastructure.

Future Operational Timeline

With the LRT3 line 96% complete, Prasarana aims to secure regulatory approvals by April 2025, with expanded station openings by early 2028.
