Sinner Overcomes Bu to Reach China Open Final Against Alcaraz

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner edged out Chinese wildcard Bu Yunchaokete 6-3, 7-6 (7/3) on Tuesday to advance to the China Open final, where he will face Carlos Alcaraz.

Sinner’s victory in front of a raucous Beijing crowd came despite intense pressure from Bu, ranked 96th, and ongoing scrutiny over a doping case that has cast a shadow over his season.

Bu started strong, putting Sinner’s serve under pressure early in the first set. However, Sinner, the defending champion, held his nerve and slowly took control of the match. The second set went to a tie break, where Sinner’s ace on his third match point secured the victory.

Alcaraz reached the final after defeating Daniil Medvedev 7-5, 6-3. The Spanish second seed has not dropped a set in the tournament and looks in formidable form as he prepares for his first final in the Chinese capital.

Sinner’s win comes amid renewed focus on his doping case. Although cleared of any wrongdoing earlier this year, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has appealed the decision and is seeking a ban. Sinner has acknowledged that the case has been weighing on him mentally.

The final promises to be a thrilling contest between two of the sport’s brightest talents.
