Malaysia Submits Haj Quota Appeal as Demand Surges

Tabung Haji Records 84,000 Appeals for Additional Haj Slots

High Demand for Pilgrimage Vacancies

KUALA LUMPUR: The Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) has received 84,000 applications from individuals hoping to secure unclaimed haj slots for this year, says Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar.

A significant portion—80,000 of these applicants—have declared their willingness to fully fund their pilgrimage if given the opportunity.

Confirmed Pilgrims and Travel Arrangements

He further disclosed that 91% of the 31,600 allocated pilgrims have confirmed their participation, with those from the appeal list filling the remaining slots.

“Alhamdulillah, 91% of our selected pilgrims have confirmed their journey, and they have been issued their respective flight schedules,” he said.

The minister also highlighted that Malaysia is hoping for an additional 10,000 haj slots from Saudi authorities.

Awaiting Approval from Saudi Arabia

During an event by the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council under the Rahmah Madani Ramadan programme on Thursday (March 13), Mohd Na’im mentioned that a formal request for a quota increase has been submitted.

“We are still waiting for an official response regarding our request for additional haj slots,” he added.
